With a background in corporate America as a Professional Development Trainer, Ricki Lee McKenna, BS CN, owned and operated a multi-faceted consulting and training business in Houston, Texas, for 10 years.  I created and facilitated workshops on professionalism: Team building, communications, professional image, wholistic health management and etiquette.

Mchealthymatters© was established in 1999 and morphed into CHOOSE HEALTH SOLUTIONS in 2014.   My clients receive outstanding nutritional education, counseling and personalized service.

For over 18 years, I’ve been researching nutrition and counseling on how to optimize health with food and conscious eating.   I’ve been quoted in USA Today, and write informative nutrition articles for the Aspen Daily News, Aspen Times and The Sopris Sun. As “Mchealthy”, I’ve been interviewed on TV and radio shows in Texas and colorado.  I teach nutrition classes at Colorado Mountain College in Aspen and Basalt, CO.  Presenting interactive discussions, teleseminars and nutritional programs for organizations, schools and clubs, including the Aspen Club & Spa, Glenwood Recreation Center, and other organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley, throughout Colorado and in Houston, Texas.  In Houston I find inspiration working with many senior or “seasoned” citizens who are realizing the advantages of eliminating medications and replacing them with food.

As a member of CCQH Leadership Club  I was honored to be a recipient of the 2009 CCQH Leaders of the Year Award.  It’s fun serving as their resident nutritionist providing a wide range of nutrition articles and advice.  I am a Professional member of the National Association of Nutritional Professionals (NANP).  Since its beginning in 2002, I’ve been a founding member and presenter for Davi Nikent integrative wellness seminars and owned a thriving private practice in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado from 2001-2014.

In 1998, after moving to Basalt, CO, I became a licensed, Certified Nutritionist through the National Institute of Nutrition Education — American Health Science University, and was one of the best-known nutritionists in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado.  I returned to Houston in 2014.

For the past 18 years I’ve been and counseling with people and researching nutrition topics that can benefit overall health and nutrition, especially “food vs medications”.  I have been quoted in USA Today and write informative nutrition articles for the Aspen Daily News, Aspen Times and The Healthy Planet. For Williams Sonoma, I do food preparation and demonstrations, and collaborate with alternative healthcare practitioners, Care Givers and various senior residences and recreational facilities in Houston, TX.

I have appeared on local TV and radio and taught nutrition and cooking classes at Colorado Mountain College in Aspen and Basalt. and Houston, TX.  I now facilitate interactive discussions and nutritional programs for organizations, schools, clubs and businesses including; the Aspen Club & Spa, Maroon Creek Club, Glenwood Recreation Center, Challenge Aspen, Kids First and Roaring Fork Kids (re nutrition for children), Glazier and Fonteno Senior Centers, Village on the Park, and Heights, Belmont and Brookdale  Senior Residences, The Forum Memorial Woods, Houston Area Continuity of Care, Unity Church and business and social networking groups in Houston, TX

As a founding partner of the Aspen Natural Cooking School, Mchealthy’s SOUP’s ON, and CHOOSE HEALTH SOLUTIONS, and a founding member and presenter for Davi Nikent Integrative Wellness seminars (Colorado).  I maintain a professional membership in the National Association of Nutritional professionals (NANP), Memorial Women’s Business Network, the Houston West Chamber of Commerce, Houston Area Continuity of Care, and the Senior Services Alliance, with a private nutrition practice CHOOSE HEALTH SOLUTIONS  in the Houston, TX and Roaring Fork Valley area of Colorado.

Constantly updating my education, I specialize in working with the growing number of Seasoned Citizens a.k.a. baby boomers, and the 70+ year young groups. I hold seminars and workshops on digestive and preventive health and reversing chronic disease with food and without drugs.  After returning to Houston in 2014, to be closer to family, I now incorporate medical foods, supplements and programs from carefully researched sources to use with my clients and patients in my functional nutrition practice. As a functional nutritionist, I am proud to help those in need to reduce and/or eliminate prescription drugs in favor of food.

Coaching is a big part of my work as it adds to the support, empowerment and fun that leads to success. I love teaching cooking and found my purpose in helping others realize that food is the key to health and well-being. Combining my passions and knowledge lead to CHOOSE HEALTH SOLUTIONS, promoting practical ways to re-gain, renew and control your health naturally.
